Dr. Duane Campbell - Where is the multicultural education? If the teams primary task was to the state standards as Berlak pointed out in "Standards and control of knowledge"this leads to a very limited perspective. It misses the historical reality from other perspectives, such as Native peoples. I recommend the material at Indian Grinding Rock State Park, and the Turner video series, The West. This is a place where one assignment was for one class, but it could have used concepts of multicultural education from 251.
My Response: The multicultural aspect was factored in to all parts of our project (or so we thought). The living museum allows our students to step into the shoes of poineers weither they be white, black, hispanic, asian or native. We were focusing on the gold rush towns which caused us to narrow our focus.
